James L. Boyd III

International dance educator, choreographer, and ballet master, James L. Boyd III believes in sustaining arts organizations through fostering community, education and enrichment.
With over twenty years of experience in performance, choreography, and teaching across more than 30 countries and 80 cities, this Jacksonville, Florida native has presented works by esteemed choreographers such as Merce Cunningham, Bill T. Jones, George Balanchine, and Paul Taylor. Boyd has shared the stage with global icons including Elton John, Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige, and Bruce Springsteen, and has collaborated with principal dancers like Misty Copeland, Joseph Gatti, Isaac Hernandez, and Rasta Thomas.
The multi-talentās television credits include performances with Bad Boys of Dance and Bad Boys of Ballet on FOXās So You Think You Can Dance and NBCās Americaās Got Talent.
Additionally, Boyd has served as an adjunct professor of dance at Jacksonville University and Alabama State University. As the resident choreographer and Chief Operating Officer of United Ballet Theatre, he has premiered original works and has acted as international faculty for the Manhattan Dance Project and the Dancelook Apprentice Program Festival.
James L. Boyd III holds a B.F.A. in Dance and Choreography and an M.F.A. in Choreography from SUNY Purchase College. He currently serves as a faculty member and lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Troy University and is an active board member of the JIA Arts Commission.
